Dr. Chandra is a Professor in the Department of Mechanical & Industrial Engineering, University of Toronto. Dr. Chandra is known internationally for his research on the dynamics of droplets and sprays. He is one of the founders of the Centre for Advanced Coating Technologies and has worked in the area of spray coatings for 25 years. He has collaborated with several major companies in the area of spray coatings and painting, including General Motors, GE Global Research, Sulzer Metco, and Xerox.
He has over 200 peer reviewed publications and has written chapters for a book on thermal spray coating and a handbook on sprays. In 2010 he was awarded by the NSERC The Brockhouse Canada Prize for Interdisciplinary Research, to recognize outstanding collaborative research. He has been working another ORF-RE program: “High-efficiency Spray-formed Metal Foam Heat Exchangers for High Temperature Energy Conversion and Recovery” (2010 – 2015).
